News: WorshipGod08 Registration Closing

Registration for the WorshipGod conference, July 30-August 2, is closing at midnight on Wednesday, July 9. If you haven’t already signed up, time is running out! This conference, hosted by Bob Kauflin, is designed for worship leaders, pastors, worship teams, and anyone who wants to grow in their understanding and practice of Biblical worship. The conference theme this year is Rediscovering the Psalms, and it will be held at Covenant Life Church in Gaithersburg, MD. We’re excited to be featuring two new releases at the conference. The first is the Psalms CD, made up of twelve new songs inspired by the biblical book of prayers and praises. We’ll also have the Worship Songbook Volume 3, which includes piano scores from our last six albums. We’re looking forward to seeing how God is going to encourage and equip everyone who attends the conference. To register for the conference click here.

News: Nap Records

The marriage of truth and creativity is what Nap Records is all about. Some of the lyrics on our albums might sound a little old-fashioned — we’re okay with that. The truth we sing has been around for a few thousand years, but hopefully in our music you’ll find the style a little more current. We want to use new music to bend the ears of our listeners to the old truth. Our goal is to get you to sing in your car because you like the song, but keep singing because you love remembering the cross of Jesus Christ even more than the style.

This past week Bob Kauflin and producer, Sal Oliveri, were camped out in the Sovereign Grace Studio recording vocals for our upcoming album, Psalms. It will be released at the end of July 2008 at our WorshipGod conference. Two of the vocalists from previous projects joined us again. Ryan Baird, a member of West Coast Revival, flew in from the Sovereign Grace Church in Pasadena, CA. We also had Melissa Farmer drive down from Covenant Fellowship in Glen Mills, PA. New to the vocal roster were John Reilly from Reilly Band, part of Covenant Fellowship in Glenn Mills, Pennsylvania, and Devon Kauflin, Bob’s son, who leads worship with the Na Band at New Attitude. The recordings went great and we’re excited about the opportunity to provide the church with twelve new songs inspired by the book of Psalms.

From February 1 through February 29, Sovereign Grace will be selling all our CDs for six dollars. With free shipping. Of course you can download the CDs and not worry about shipping (great idea if you’re outside the U.S.). That means that for the month of February you can buy Valley of Vision, In a Little While, Savior, Worship God Live, You and You Alone, Upward, Songs for the Cross Centered Life, and every other Sovereign Grace produced CD for just six dollars. CD or download. As many as you want or can give away. In addition, we’ll be selling our two-volume songbook, with over 250 songs, for $40. During February all our piano scores can be downloaded for $1. Full sets will only be $6.

Why are we doing this? A few reasons. The primary mission of Sovereign Grace Ministries is to serve Sovereign Grace pastors who are giving their lives to build gospel-centered local churches. We want to do everything we can to help them serve the people they lead. Providing Christ-exalting, biblically faithful music and books in one of the ways we can do that. We also want to make it as easy as possible for other churches and individuals to have access to what we produce. We figured that lowering the price of everything we’ve done is a step in that direction. We also want more people to hear our music and read our books because we produced them to encourage God-glorifying, gospel-centered, Spirit-empowered living.

Basically, it makes us happy to get our materials out for the lowest price possible. All our CDs, six bucks. Don’t wait on this because these prices are only while the supplies last (and yes, we do have more than ten CDs in stock).

And feel free to help us spread the word.

News: New Sovereign Grace Project

Two weeks ago we recorded some of the lead vocals for our upcoming project, Come Weary Saints, due to be released in April 2008. It’s a project of primarily congregational worship songs designed to encourage faith and hope in the hearts of those who are or will be going through trials.

Ryan Baird, who is from the Sovereign Grace church in Pasadena, California, and is lead vocalist for the band West Coast Revival, sang lead on many of the songs. We were also pleased to welcome two new vocalists on this project: Tamara Baker and Melissa Farmer, from the Sovereign Grace churches in Cleveland, Ohio, and Glen Mills, Pennsylvania. Even though it was their first time in the studio, both did an outstanding job.

Early next year, be sure to check out a video interview with Bob Kauflin that will explain more about why we’re producing this album as well as additional information about the songs.
