News: Coming soon from Sovereign Grace Music (Summer of ‘09)

Plans are underway for two new Sovereign Grace Music releases this summer.

To Be Like Jesus, will be our second Sovereign Grace Kids album. The first was Awesome God, which got some great feedback. To Be Like Jesus contains twelve worship songs that teach the fruit of the Spirit in a memorable way. Through these songs kids will learn that Jesus is our perfect example of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. More than that, they’ll discover that we can’t be like Jesus unless we trust in the power of his blood to forgive us and the power of his Sprit to change us. To Be Like Jesus is geared towards kids ages 6+, and will be released near the end of June. As we have been listening to the rough tracks, we’re excited about the results and believe this album is going to encourage many kids and their families!

As we finish up To Be Like Jesus, we’re in the mid-production stages of Sons and Daughters, which we plan to release at the WorshipGod09 conference, August 5-8. The theme of the project is the joy of being adopted as God’s children through the atoning work of Christ. The vocalists will be recording in the Sovereign Grace Studio next week.

Please keep both projects in your prayers!

News: Sovereign Grace Music and Book Sale

We’re doing it again. Having a ridiculous sale, that is.

Last year, during the month of February, we reduced the prices of our CDs and books. The response was overwhelming. So we decided to repeat the lunacy. Here’s the deal:

From February 1–28, at the Sovereign Grace store, you’ll find these prices:

    * Sovereign Grace books (23 of them, including Worship Matters, Worldliness, and Living the Cross Centered Life): $7 each

    * all CDs produced by Sovereign Grace Music (including Together for the Gospel Live, Psalms, Come Weary Saints, Awesome God, In a Little While, and Valley of Vision): $6 each

    * all books in our Pursuit of Godliness series (Why Small Groups, This Great Salvation, and others): $4 each

But wait…there’s more!

During February, we’re offering our normal free shipping in the continental US (library rate). But on all international orders we’re offering a discount of 50% on USPS First Class International shipping.

Why are we doing this? Well, we figure that most of us have been affected by the present economic crisis. We want to do whatever we can to make it easier for people to benefit from what we produce. We want to serve churches and individuals by providing biblically informed, gospel-centered resources at a low cost. And we’d really like to give it all away, but for now, that’s not financially feasible…

So we offer the February sale. Enjoy.

And feel free to tell your friends.

News: Would You Vote for This CD?

We wanted you to know that Worship Leader magazine has included our Psalms CD on their ballot for “Best Worship Compilation CD” of 2008. There are six CD’s in that category and they’re asking people to vote for their favorite. We’d like you to consider voting for Psalms, but on one condition. If you think that one of the five other CD’s is better than Psalms, you should vote for it. But if you think Psalms merits that award, your vote might mean more people will become aware of our music. The link for voting can be found at: http://www.worshipleader.com/praise-awards. And if you wanted to spread the word, we’d really appreciate it. Thanks for even considering this, and thanks for encouraging us as we seek to produce songs that serve the church and exalt the glory of our Savior.

The conference theme this year is Rediscovering the Psalms, and it will be held at Covenant Life Church in Gaithersburg, MD. We’re excited to be featuring two new releases at the conference. We’ll also have the Worship Songbook Volume 3, which includes piano scores from our last six albums. We’re looking forward to seeing how God is going to encourage and equip everyone who attends the conference. To register for the conference click here.

News: Nap Records

The marriage of truth and creativity is what Nap Records is all about. Some of the lyrics on our albums might sound a little old-fashioned — we’re okay with that. The truth we sing has been around for a few thousand years, but hopefully in our music you’ll find the style a little more current. We want to use new music to bend the ears of our listeners to the old truth. Our goal is to get you to sing in your car because you like the song, but keep singing because you love remembering the cross of Jesus Christ even more than the style.

This past week Bob Kauflin and producer, Sal Oliveri, were camped out in the Sovereign Grace Studio recording vocals for our upcoming album, Psalms. It will be released at the end of July 2008 at our WorshipGod conference. Two of the vocalists from previous projects joined us again. Ryan Baird, a member of West Coast Revival, flew in from the Sovereign Grace Church in Pasadena, CA. We also had Melissa Farmer drive down from Covenant Fellowship in Glen Mills, PA. New to the vocal roster were John Reilly from Reilly Band, part of Covenant Fellowship in Glenn Mills, Pennsylvania, and Devon Kauflin, Bob’s son, who leads worship with the Na Band at New Attitude. The recordings went great and we’re excited about the opportunity to provide the church with twelve new songs inspired by the book of Psalms.

The Na Band, led by Devon Kauflin, helps lead worship at Next, an annual conference for singles and young couples. Their purpose is to set “humble orthodoxy” to music. The content of their songs reflects an unswerving commitment to and passion for the truth that matters most: the gospel of Jesus Christ. During the year, they serve God’s kingdom through their local church, Covenant Life Church (Gaithersburg, MD), and regularly lead worship there.
